Costa Rican beauties.

My family and I just got back from an amazing vacation to our favorite country Costa Rica. We have been going there for almost 20 years and it never disappoints. This year we went back to Pavones which is a small surf tour near the border of panama. The nature is unreal there. We were lucky enough to spy a sloth in our yard and also could hand feed wild monkeys. I hope you enjoy the photos below.

Tarpon Mania!!!!

Well, I caught the biggest fish of my life the other day and I am still sore from reeling it in. I couldn't believe the size of this tarpon when it first jumped. I had to use every ounce of strength I had to finish the fight and not hand it over to someone else. It weighed near 150 lbs and took me an hour to catch. Tarpon are my favorite fish to paint and catch so this was the thrill of a lifetime for me.
Below is a painting I had been working on before the catch.

Succulents and surf

The family and I made a trip out to my birth state California for a visit. We were near Huntington and Laguna beach. Every time I go there I become obsessed with all the beautiful succulents. I am so jealous  because they are everywhere you go, and they grow so beautiful and big. I think I feel a little painting inspiration coming on. Here are a few shots of our trip below. Enjoy!

New Paintings.

Two of my favorite paintings so far . I feel like I'm starting to figure myself out. I am drawn to certain subjects and I am learning to be true to myself and what I like and to not worry about what  will sell or what everyone else will like. I know, it's real hard to do that as an artist and I might pay the price but I think I'm on the path to "finding myself". I know I'm out there somewhere.Ha!

P.S.- You can find these in my ETSY shop Here.

I can't stop taking photos of my surfboard. I just love these colors. I have this board in the entry of my home and I am embarrassed to say that I have only ridden it a few times because its kind of home decor and I always go to my old faithful McTavish that I always ride, but she's sure a beauty.

Find beauty in the small things.

Beauty is all around us. Some people just don't understand how a leaf can be so amazing or mushrooms so beautiful but if you just take time to look again you can see beauty everywhere.

California=Succulent Paradise

I just got back from a trip out to southern California. Thats me down there looking happy as a clam.I was out there for my mothers wedding which was so beautiful. But I must confess I was a little distracted by all of the amazing sights. I was blown away by the amount of succulents growing like weeds out there. I couldn't stop taking pictures and I'm sure a painting or three will come out of it. Laguna beach is were I was in heaven. What a unbelievably beautiful spot. I could have spent every day looking at the tide pools and succulents. I can't wait to go back. I was able to see some sea lions and Grey Whales too. What a treat!

P.S. Congratulations to the bride and groom!
